theanalyticpoem is a project that builds relationships among diverse elements of art and science to create a concept map of Nature’s geometry. This is achieved through a portal that allows anyone to contribute and experience ideas, images, text, graphics, sound, and video. The network is organized into a hierarchy using a taxonomy of six geometric dimensions (zero through five) to discern common associations among objects, experiences, and time.
Drawing upon multidisciplinary affinities, impressions from these media will create an ever-expanding platform of connected ideas. In effect, the network samples a variety of phenomena through geometry – the goal is to enhance perception through a unity of formerly dissimilar aspects.
An example of this idea is the hippocampus, which is the name given to both the seahorse and part of the limbic system in the human brain – the seat of emotion and memory. The shared relationship of both space (a fish) and time (memory) lends this concept to the fourth dimension, which is comprised of one temporal and three spatial units. It is also interesting to note that the shape of the hippocampus relates to a logarithmic curve; although not static like a nautilus shell, it is at times a projection of the Fibonacci sequence of numbers in describing an arc that increases in a self-similar manner like fractal geometric patterns.
Components, such as the hippocampus, are at once structured and poetic; they hold multiple possibilities in the construction of the concept map. Therefore, we are seeking original media for both theanalyticpoem network and journal and invite contributors to the project. Points of inspiration could include fine art, film, performance art, literature, poetry, music and sound, design, philosophy, cosmology, mythology, astronomy, physics, mathematics, biology, archaeology, and history. The action, both creating the network and viewing it, will forge new pathways – it will be complete when a transformation occurs, geometric or otherwise.
